MY SCENE: The Dance Battle From House Party
I loved the boys vs girls scene in the first House Party movie. This movie meant a lot to me because it was the first of its kind. It featured Black kids from middle class backgrounds (with the except of AJ Johnson's character, her family was HILARIOUS) who were basically good kids looking to have a good time. At the time Kid 'n Play were at the top of their game so this was a must-see film for young folks when it was released. Even though both had appeared in other films prior to this, the House Party films truly launched the careers of Tisha Campbell and Martin Lawrence, they should thank their lucky stars for The Hudlin Brothers. It would be awesome to see a reunion of the cast once the film reaches it's 20th anniversary or something. Most of the central characters are still working, including Darryl "Chill" Miller who is now confined to a wheelchair due to a motorcycle accident in 2001.
